Depuis bien de temps, Dr. Theodore Crèvecœur joue un rôle important dans le monde médical haïtien. Dr. Crèvecœur est né à Port au Prince et a fait ses études primaires à Leogane et secondaires au Petit Séminaire St. Martial, entra à la Faculté de Médecine de Port au Prince et obtint son diplôme de médecin. Il obtint une bourse de perfectionnement dans sa branche d’ophtalmologie, a Porto Rico. Après ses études Dr. Crèvecœur a travaillé à l’hôpital Général de Port au Prince au service d’Ophtalmologie, puis comme Médecin de Service et enfin comme Directeur Médical. Il enseigna à la Faculté de Médecine et l’Ecole des Infirmières à Port-au-Prince. Dr. Crèvecœur ouvrit son cabinet et puis fonda l’hôpital St. Esprit, qui est très achalandé.
Les habitants de Port au Prince furent chanceux; le séisme du 12 Janvier a légèrement endommagé l’Hôpital du St. Esprit ou Dr. Crèvecœur et sa petite équipe de médecins et d’infirmières ont travaille sans relâche pour soulager la douleur des victimes. Malgré un horaire surchargé Dr. Crèvecœur s’est creé du temps pour se rendre à Léogane 2 fois par semaine pour s’occuper des nécessiteux de cette localité.
Dr. Crèvecœur sera en charge du groupe de conseillers en Haïti. A cause de la situation qui est encore déplorable dans le pays, le groupe de conseillers en Haïti n’a pas pu se réunir. La biographie de chaque membre sera publiée sur le site très prochainement.
For a long time, Dr. Theodore Crevecoeur played a very important role in the Haitian medical world. Dr. Crevecoeur was born in Port-au-Prince, attended elementary and middle schools in Leogane, then returned to Port-au-Prince where he went to high school at the Petit Seminaire St. Martial. He attended the Faculte of Medicine (School of Medicine) of Port-au-Prince where he obtained his M.D. Upon graduation he went to Puerto Rico for a residency in the field of Ophthalmology. After his studies abroad, Dr. Crevecoeur returned to his country and worked at the General Hospital of Port-au-Prince in the department of Ophthalmology, first as the doctor of service (on duty) and then as the medical director. He was a professor at the Faculte of Medicine and Nurses in Port-au-Prince for many years. Dr. Crevecoeur opened his own clinic and eventually founded a well- patronized hospital named Hospital St. Esprit.
The residents of Port-au-Prince were very lucky. The earthquake of January 12, 2010 did little damage to the Hospital St. Esprit where Dr. Crevecoeur and his team of a few doctors and nurses worked nonstop to alleviate the pain and suffering of the victims. In spite of his work overload, Dr. Crevecoeur made time to visit Leogane twice a week to tend to the needy there.
Dr. Crevecoeur will be in charge of the Advisory Board of Haiti. Due to the ongoing deplorable state of the country, the Advisory Board of Haiti was not able to meet. Each member’s biography will be made available on the website very soon.
