Letter from the Chair of the C-CHANGE for Haiti Foundation

I arrived in Haiti shortly after the January 2010 earthquake to find its citizens thoroughly shell-shocked from the devastation and in dire need of lifelines.  The Haitian people desperately need our assistance.  They are in need of everything, from the most basic to the most complex of supplies.  The current essential supplies that have been donated, such as food, water, proper shelter, medical equipments, medications, and qualified care givers, are insufficient.  Despite the valiant efforts of volunteers, there are not enough supplies available to treat the vast population of those in need.

Never, in my twenty years of practice, have I seen so much loss and suffering.  So many Haitian people are in need of medical attention that the infection rate has surpassed that of an epidemic.  The look and smell of this tragedy is unspeakably horrifying, and one cannot help but to feel a deep sense of compassion.

The C-CHANGE for Haiti Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping Haiti heal.  We are determined to recruit funds for the recovery and restoration of the lives, homes, and communities in the devastated areas of Haiti.

While in Haiti, I was struck by the lines of loss and pain in the faces of every man, woman, and child. Since my return to the United States, I have been hard at work in order to do everything possible to assist in the recovery of a people and in the rebuilding of a country.  C-CHANGE’s mission is to provide continuous social and health services as well as education, economic, business and trade training.

As the Chair of C-CHANGE, and as a Haitian-American medical practitioner, I am committed to leading the Foundation’s efforts in supplying direct support to the victims of this violent earthquake.

We hope that you feel a sense of stewardship, humility, and generosity towards this effort and are willing contribute to our foundation.  One hundred percent of monetary contributions made to the Foundation will go toward purchasing much-needed supplies and toward providing healthcare to the citizens of Haiti. All items donated will be delivered C-CHANGE’s own Task Force.  Lastly, all donations made will be tax-deductible.

On behalf of the people of Haiti, and on behalf of those of us who are working tirelessly to assist in the relief efforts, I humbly thank you for your thoughts, prayers, donations and financial contributions.

God bless you,
